CD Projekt Red today announced that it’s upcoming RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, has been “aged rated” for the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This means that the game will officially release come September 17 without it potentially being banned for its adult content.
According to the press release, “the Middle East version of the game will be within the guidelines of the local age rating bodies in both countries.”
It isn’t clear, however, if there will be a special Middle East version of the game with altered content, and what the age rating of the game will be in the two countries. We have asked the local representatives for CDPR for further clarification.
It wouldn’t be unprecedented for CDPR to change its game’s content to suit regional values. For The Witcher 3, the developer covered or altered certain sequences to make it more palatable to local censorship boards.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on September 17 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game is also confirmed to feature Arabic localization.
