A mod for The Sims 4 replaces the generic games available on the in-game PC with several real games, including the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077.
For many, The Sims 4 has been a way to experience some semblance of a life without COVID-19, to the point where Maxis will not add face masks to The Sims 4. For many, the formerly mundane life of paying bills, having a job and meaningful relationships, and being able to travel the world are things only able to be experienced in games like the life simulator right now.
However, being able to play good video games is something that The Sims 4 has not been able to simulate effectively. For many, the thought of playing Blicblock or Incredible Sports is not particularly exciting. A mod has changed all that by adding various real games that players would be more likely to enjoy.
The Better Computer Games mod from user SimmerWellPupper replaces the generic games with Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 4, GTA V, League of Legends, Monster Hunter: World, Persona 4 Golden, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. While the thought of playing League without bad players dragging one down is enticing, the addition of Cyberpunk 2077 is perhaps the final indication that Sims are living well in comparison to real-life.
The mod adds real gameplay footage and sounds from the various games, which can be seen and heard on the in-game PC. For most of the games, the footage the mod uses can be compiled by anyone. As for the Cyberpunk 2077 footage, it appears to come from the various gameplay trailers that have come out over the years. With the real-life version of Cyberpunk 2077 being delayed to December 10, Sims aren’t just eating better food and dressing in better clothes, they are also playing the best games before real players can.
While the world of The Sims 4 no longer has to worry about whether Cyberpunk 2077 will live up to the hype, concerns remain in the real world. The game has been delayed three times, including past a November 19 release date, despite going gold back in October. Accusations of a crunch culture being imposed by CD Projekt Red have also been prevalent, with CEO Adam Kicinski apologizing for comments that attempted to downplay the seriousness of the allegations.
Despite the various controversies related to the development of Cyberpunk 2077, there is immense hype surrounding the game that continues to build with every second of promotional footage. Episode 5 of Night City Wire revealed a playable Johnny Silverhand/Keanu Reeves, lip sync technology, and the game’s score and soundtrack.
The Sims 4 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
